ALONE I WALK - Launch Video Tour of Family Farm 👨🏻‍🌾🐖🐓

Alone I Walk are not only unique in style and music, but also in the way that they live. The Courcelles brothers (Franky and Pascal) were born and raised in the small Canadian province of Winnipeg, Canada, where they still reside on their family’s land and farm.

I asked Franky and Pascal to document their farm life and give us a little insight into what goes on at the farm, and how this lifestyle affects their musical life both positively and negatively. Here’s what they had to say ::

Being out in the countryside where peace surrounds you is an amazing thing to experience on a day to day basis, with that said there is a lot to do when you have a yard full of animals to care for. We love animals though that’s why the farm is forever expanding.

Living on the farm brought a new sense of inspiration right at the start of Alone I Walk. When we first moved to the woods we had no wifi and the cell phone signal was pretty terrible.

With this being the standard for a few weeks till the internet came in, writing music and learning new songs were a great way to keep occupied.

When It all started off, I (Franky) would record demos onto my zoom audio recorder, transport the files onto my moms laptop via SD card, open it into audacity and then put the SD back into the zoom.

With two pairs of headphones I would run one (left) from the zoom where I would record audio/monitor myself and run another (right) from the laptop so that I could track everything on time and stay in key instead of guessing.

It didn’t matter what it took, I was going to write and record as much music as I could.

Like anything else in life, [living on a farm] can have its ups and downs, for example a few summers ago our mini donkeys Delilah & Humphrey decided it would be a fun time to push through a fence and go for a 5-10 mile run on one of the hottest days of summer. (ever seen how fast mini Donkeys run? Its impressive and hilarious). Now, this being the first time it ever happened, we weren’t sure how getting them home would play out. It was quickly noted that coaxing mini Donkeys home for 2 miles is a daunting task but we managed to get them back safely after a good couple of hours.

Most of our time is spent between writing music and working on projects on the acreage which works out great most of the time, except when you’re in the zone and have to rally some mini Donkeys, then not so much.

But in all realness it’s a great environment to write in, no distractions, no noise pollution from our surroundings just a quiet relaxed space in the middle of nowhere. A place to focus.

It’s easy to get a lot done in little time with this commodity, yet it can have its negative pull. It’s not hard for something so wholesome to become imprisoning if you let it and don’t get out to seek a change of environment.

We feel that our writing conveys the emotions of who we are, what we’ve come from, what life’s thrown at us and what surrounds us in the purest form, as we try our best to continue writing honest meaningful music.

Thanks for tuning in and getting to know us a little better. Hope you enjoy our animals!

Peace,

Franky & Pascal
